Amy Bunnage is one of Australia’s most exciting and talented young runners.

Amy is well known in the Australian running community, after a stellar junior career. During these years Amy won six Australian championships. 

Amy is perhaps best known for breaking the Australian U20 3000m record when she clocked 8:51.90 at the 2023 Sydney Track Classic as a 17-year-old, where she finished third behind Jessica Hull. The time is the 14th fastest all-time by an Australian of any age.

We caught up with Amy at a pivotal moment in her career. She has just kicked off a 4 year scholarship at Stanford University, and interestingly she has just signed an NIL deal with On Running.  

We sat down with both Amy, and her long-time friend, who now works for ON Running, Craig Mottram, to dive deep into the NIL deal, and what it really means for Amy.....

Riley McGown has come from the clouds over the last few years, and now holds a firm place within Australia's top half a dozen 800m runners.

 

With a PB of 1:46.08, Riley, together with a bunch of other hungry Australians, are knocking on the door of true world class status.

 

We caught up with Riley right after his first world champs in Budapest, as he settles down for some base training before the Australian summer season kicks off......

James Hansen is a tough Tasmanian based middle distance runner  that 's been knocking on the door of major championship teams for many years.

 

2023 has been huge so far. With new PB's set over the 1500m, mile, 3000m, 5000m,  and 10km (road). HIs versatility is pretty impressive, with PB's of 3:37 for 1500m and 28:20 for 10km (road).

 

We caught up during the Budapest world champs, when James had just arrived home from Europe and had some down time back home in Launceston....

Philo Saunders is a well-known name in Australian elite running.  A 3:41 1500m runner, Philo holds the Australian record for the 40-45 age category over 1500m, with an amazing 3:45.

Philo is a Senior Sports Physiologist at the Australian Sports Commission and also is one of Australia’s best coaches.  Under his tutelage include stars like Jarryd Clifford, Michael Roeger, and Deon Kenzie.

We caught up with Philo for a quick chat and recapped the recent Para World Champs, dived into training, injuries, and heaps more…

In early 2022 we sat down with James Templeton, the manager to Peter Bol and Joseph Deng, and dived deep into the world of elite athlete management.

 

Fast forward 16 months and a lot has transpired.  Deng is now the Australian 800m record holder, once again, and JT now looks after a number of Australia's biggest names, other than Bol and Deng, including Cameron Myers and Jye Edwards.

5 years ago Zach Facioni was a top junior based out of Sydney when he made the pivotal decision to commit to Wake Forest and move to the United States.  Since then, it has been one hell of a ride for Zach, as he rewrote Wake Forest's record books and lowered his PBs to 3:39 for 1500m, 13:27 for 5000m and 7:51 for 3000m.  We caught up with Zach as he is figuring out the transition out of college, and back to Australian shores, to further his running career away from the support and comfort that the NCAA system affords.

Making a huge statement in the U20 800m national final last year, just finishing second, in the space of a year he has made a global semi-final, dropped his PB from 1:50 to a cracking 1:46 and is now a walk-up starter to any track classic.
